The world Taekwondo Headquarters, Seuol, Korea, has decided to confer Malyalam film actor Padma Shri Mohanlal with Honorary Black belt of Taekwondo. Informing this at a news conference Taekwondo Association of Kerala (TAKE) General Secretary B Aji said a information in this regard was received stating that that Mr Lal has been chosen for the black belt in recognition to his individual contribution and achievements in various fields. He was the third Indian receiving the Honorary black belt, after Hindi Film star Shahrukh Khan

Doctorate for Mohanlal
Mohanlal will be awarded honorary doctorate degrees by the Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit at Kalady.
A decision in this regard was taken by the university syndicate yesterday. Sanskrit scholar M J Sastrikal will also be awarded the doctorate.University sources said the award is in recognition of their services in their respective fields
The Kerala Governor RS Gavai awarded the doctorates to Mohanlal and Resul Pookutty. The governor in his speech said- “Mohanlal is an excellent performer the world over. He has an inborn flair for spontaneous acting. Ranging from that of a rustic, innocent lover to a crafty villain, from a devoted patriot to a passionate father, Mohanlal has essayed a rich variety of roles with equal ease and poise.”
Mohanlal dedicated the award to his late father Viswanathan Nair. He said his father a bureaucrat wanted him to go for higher studies but never stood in his way once he decided to become an actor. The actor said: “I would like to dedicate this honor to my late father”. Mohanlal’s mother Santhakumari, uncle Radhakrishnan Nair and wife Suchitra were present on the occasion.

The titans are together again, Sureshgopi and Mohanlal are uniting for the Malayalam movie Janakan by debutant director N R Sanjeev. S N Swamy of the CBI series fame is in charge of the script of this movie. Mohanlal will play a pivotal role in this movie along with Sureshgopi. The movie is planned as a thriller which goes along the detective vein and also has Harisree Asokan and Biju Menon in pivotal roles.
